Color is a tricky thing, and coloring
natural beeswax with absolute formulaic consistency is plain
impossible.
The natural color of beeswax varies,
as does honey, from almost
white to brown, depending on the source flowers of the pollens the
bees collect.

Our colors named Natural
Ivory, Natural Yellow and Natural Gold do not contain
any added pigments or dyes.
The Natural Ivory is lightened using diatomaceous
earth and activated carbon to remove the pollens and propolis that lend color - but no
chemicals, no bleaching, is used. The gold is always
raw, unfiltered, and contains more pollens, propolis and
other fine debris which may cause it to burn more
slowly. Natural Yellow is filtered to remove fine, dark
particles and reveal the light color.
The other colors are
achieved with candle wax dyes. We are still endeavoring to switch to
all-natural dyes - our eventual goal, but we can't find a reliable
source. Know of one? - please contact us.
We get pretty close with the colors, but there will
often be a small, discernable difference in each new color batch. We have chosen a selective palette and we hope you
can find here what you need.
The chart below is a guide, but every computer monitor is different.
What we see here and what you see there will be a little different. So
please take what you see here to be approximate. |
